Michael is responsible for the financial, administrative and risk management operations of the company. Michael also has direct involvement in the company's legal, secretarial, HR and IT functions. Prior to joining the company in 2005, Michael was working in Public Practice on the Sunshine Coast. Michael holds a Bachelor of Business and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.
National Feedlot Manager
B Bus (Ag Com)
Scott joined the company as National Feedlot Manager in early 2005. Prior to this role he was responsible for national lot feeding operations within a large vertically integrated beef processing company. In his current role, Scott has the charter of expanding and operating the Mort & Co Lot Feeders group of feedlots. The role encompasses a range of functions including the overall management of 60+ staff, development and maintenance of business relationships, daily operational control, project and financial management.
General Manager Livestock
Scott joined the company in January 2014 as General Manager Livestock. Prior to this, Scott spent 13 years working in the international trading division of a major livestock agency business and gained extensive experience across a broad range of businesses including livestock procurement, backgrounding, feedlotting, live export via air & sea, marketing, processing & shipping. In his current position, Scott is responsible for improving and growing the livestock trading business which encompasses an annual turnover in excess of 150,000 of grain-fed cattle. Scott is also responsible for Mort & Co’s custom processing & meat marketing business associated with the Phoenix Range of brands. Specifically, Scott is responsible for improving business systems, profitability, efficiencies, relationships & accountability in a sustainable manner supporting business growth.
Brett has experience in the rural sector since 1987, where he joined Elders working in livestock branches throughout Central and Northern Qld. He joined AMH in 1998 as a Livestock Buyer and Livestock Manager for the AMH feedlots, working extensively in Southern Qld, NSW & Victoria. In 2009 Brett accepted a position as Livestock Manager Northern Beef for JBS. Brett joined Mort & Co as Livestock Manager in May 2014, and is responsible for managing Mort & Co's livestock procurement strategy, logistics and compliance.
Private Client Manager
Dip. Bus. Admin - Marcus Oldham College
Berry joined the company in February 2014 as the Private Client Manager. Berry has a strong background in livestock breeding, genetics, client and member services, marketing and has a strong commercial acumen. He accrued this experience while owning and operating his own Red Angus stud herd. Berry’s role is to build and maintain Mort & Co’s private client business along with establishing and maintaining the backgrounding enterprise.
Sales & Marketing Manager - Beef
Tim commenced working for Mort & Co in January 2015 as the Sales & Marketing Manager – Beef. Since 1997, Tim has worked in vertically integrated, international agribusinesses in supply chain management, branded meat marketing and business development roles. These included the establishment of sales and marketing channels for premium branded beef programmes, managing direct-to-retail business and new product development for the food service and retail sectors. This experience involved the development of customer bases across North and South East Asia, The Middle East, Europe, the US and Australia.
Tim has also been responsible for managing the market development and sales of beef co-products such as, hides, tallow, meals, offal’s and pharmaceutical bi-products, providing a broad understanding of the dynamics of the complete value chain to best cater to the broad and discerning needs of today’s global beef consumer.
Kieran joined the company as Commodity Manager in January 2015. For the past 10 years he has managed Logistics, Operations and Risk Management functions across commodities including Grain, Plastics and Non-ferrous metals. As Commodity Manager Kieran is responsible for managing the purchase and execution of all feed commodities consumed by Mort & Co.
Workplace Health and Safety & Human Resources Manager
Lauren joined the company in 2016 as HR/WHS Manager. Prior to this role, Lauren has spent the last 11 years working for leading beef cattle businesses within Australia focusing on HR, compliance and risk management. In her current position with Mort & Co, Lauren is responsible for improving and growing Safety and Human Resource Systems to support and facilitate a sustainable rural business culture.
